Bloomington Board of Realtors Sees Dramatic Upgrade in Search Engine Visibility
Date: Jan 22, 2008
The Bloomington Board of REALTORS® and its subsidiary corporation, Bloomington MLS, Inc., are well known for their pioneering online multiple listing website www.homefinder.org, which first went online in 1997. In 2001 www.homefinder.org was recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® Association Executive Magazine as one of the top Internet-based multiple listing services in the United States. In late 2007, the Board engaged their long-standing technology partner, ConsulTech Technologies, Inc. to provide a dramatic increase in the visibility of the Homefinder system on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
According to Elizabeth Kehoe, BBOR’s Executive Vice President, “When Homefinder was being developed in the late 1990s, the goal was to create a tool for area Realtors, and to make finding a house easy for area residents. The Bloomington Realtor community had great success with that. But since 1997, search engines such as Google have become a critical piece to finding information on the Internet. It was time to address that piece of the process of buying or selling a home.”
Patrick Casey, ConsulTech CEO, stated “When we began this project, the Homefinder web site was almost invisible on the most widely used search engines. Now, it consistently places on page 1 or page 2 for the most commonly used search terms for people looking to buy or sell a house or land in the area.”
Kehoe adds, “The Homefinder web site is the most complete source for real estate listings for Bloomington, Monroe County, Owen County and South Central Indiana. The Homefinder MLS is the #1 online guide for buying a home or house, selling a house or home, buying for a house for investment, or relocating to Bloomington Indiana. We are grateful for the help of our partners at ConsulTech for making our site so much easier to find.”
